In the month of March the virus has been already spread in so many states. This month is a period of exams for every student. And exam is directly link with mass gathering. That’s why government had decided to shut down the schools and colleges temporarily as a precautionary measures to stop spreading corona virus. But it’s not sure that when they will reopen. This time period is much vital for education sector because the exams were ongoing such as board examination, academics examination, nursery school admissions, universities exams, various entrance test, competitive exams and many more. As the days are passing and there is no solutions to stop the spread of COVID-19 due to this shut down massive impact will be on the education sector. Everything is in pending such as exams, admissions, ongoing studies. There are 285 million young learners are in India and it will directly affecting their future.
- First thing which was get affected due to lockdown is educational sector as we see structure of schooling, learning and teaching. Private schools basically those who were already adopted online classes for learning are running their online classes. But some private schools who are not capable to afford online facilities in the school and government schools have no other option in spite of complete shut down because they don’t have e-learning classes.
In this situation the epidemic has been disturbed the higher education as well as country’s economic future which is very serious. The students who were studying in abroad, especially those countries who have worst condition due to COVID-19, large number of cases found in those countries such as US, UK, Australia and China. From these countries many students have been sent back to India. If this situation extended too much, this will effect in the demand for international higher education.
The actual problem which is a matter to think that this situation will effect on the employment rate. Recently many graduates are in fear that corporate sector will hire employees or not because of the current situation. It has been assessed by Monitoring Indian Economy that unemployment rate from 8.4% in mid march increased up to 23% in the starting April and urban unemployment rate lie up to 30.9%.
This virus pulling are country into backwardness and transforming the centuries too old. The classroom chalk-talk teaching is useless and pushing towards tech worlds. The situation creating disturbance in the delivery of knowledge or education is pushing the policymakers to find the solutions look towards e-learning and digital world.
To manage such crisis our Indian education system has to make multi-pronged strategy and build it stronger.
It is necessary to take one immediate step to continue the study program and learning in government and schools. Online learning classes has to be conducted through digital learning solutions and learning management software. The DIKSHA platform which have reached across all over the India should be supported.
- Second step to develop learning solution specially for most vulnerable and marginalized. As we see that due to rise in mobile internet user in India, it is expected that it will reach up to 85% of households in 2024, technology is now access globally and even the education will reach in the remotest part of our country. It will change the training system and rise the efficiency of learning and teaching, many options will be available to choose by the students and teachers. In our country, most of the inspired districts have adopted and started advance based mobile learning to deliver education, it should be adopted by others too.
- Third, education system is to prepare an strategies to grow a demand and supply of education to all over the world. And also look towards the students of global mobility and their classes and advance the quality and petition of higher qualification in India. Additionally the instant actions are required to reduce the impact of this virus or pandemic in various jobs, internship agendas, research plans.
- Fourth e- learning modes is need to be enhance in schools and higher education by developing classroom programs to make a combined learning system. It is a biggest task to transform the educational technology at the national level and combine the technology with the present Indian educational system, it’s totally looks like a dream for current training program and that is too wide sector in the world with more than 15 lakh schools and 50,000 higher education institutions. In addition to that it is also important to install a quality assured machines with ideal quality to setup online learning and offer it to Indian higher education institutions and e-learning platforms. At present many online learning groups are available in the market who propose the similar subjects and provide different level of certificates and their procedure of teaching and evaluation process Subsequently, it shows the quality of each and every e-learning group might be differ across all over the country.
